Pose for a Change

Shannon Wilkinson Posing on the Summit of Mt. ShastaDuring the Explore & Play call in August, we experimented with posture and how it can affect your feelings of confidence. (Get a free copy of the Create Confidence recording.)

You can try it right now. First, slouch, cave in your chest, close your eyes part way and notice how you feel. Then, sit (or stand) up straight, open your eyes, breath deeply and notice how you feel.

We’ve also talked about the wonders of a well-timed nap, even if you’re faking it.

I love knowing from experience that these things work. But knowing the science to back them up is like a cherry on top!

Today I discovered a PsyBlog that focuses on scientific studies of how the mind works. So right up my alley! I’m sure I’ll be referencing this blog more in the future, but for now, check out this post, that cites the science behind posture and naps, and other simple postures that can change your mindset and your experience.
