Good | Bad | Rad #20

A look back at some of the best, hardest and most surprising parts of my week.

The Good

Tangerines right off the tree. Even though they weren’t quite ripe, eating tangerines right off the tree is such a delight! Despite being a farm girl, it seems magical to me that you can just go pick them and eat them.

Sunrise. Because of the workshop (see Rad below) I had to get up and get going in the mornings. That meant that I had the opportunity to run during the most gorgeous sunrise over the San Francisco bay.

The Bad

Missing Brooke’s Memorial. I was heartbroken having to choose between my trip and attending my friend’s memorial service. Neither option felt like the right choice. Ultimately I decided on the trip. And spent a lot of time thinking about Brooke, missing her, trying to bring some of her fun-loving vivaciousness into my travels.

Poor Communication. My flights both directions were delayed. There was a significant difference in how the delays were handled. I was very disappointed how little the airline communicated in Fresno yesterday. Luckily I was receiving text alerts, so I knew, but the rest of the passengers waiting, had no idea that we had a two + hour delay ahead of us. It was such a good reminder that simply knowing, whether it’s good news or bad, is infinitely better than not knowing.

The Rad

Writing Workshop. While I spent time with friends and family on this trip, it was all centered around the weekend workshop, Write Yourself into Motion, with Alexandra Franzen. It was held at Laurie Wagner‘s gorgeous 27 Powers home in Alameda, California – a wonderful location.

The writing workshop was phenomenal. Alex was a delight, as expected. I expected there would be interesting people there, but I was blown away by the other participants. 20-ish amazing women, doing amazing things. The room was vibrating with energy and insight and vulnerability and talent and laughter and song and support. I can’t imagine a better way to move into the next phase.

And you?
