Weekend Unplugged

As I head into the weekend, I’m thinking about how I’m going to unplug. What exactly I’ll do to get out from behind this screen and move and relax and socialize and take care of some things that I want to get done.

Moving

There will be a long run. I’m officially signed up for the Portland Marathon, and, because it fit perfectly into my training schedule I signed up for the Foot Traffic Flat half marathon, July 4th on Sauvie Island. These things make the run a must.

There will probably be a leisurely bike ride with a friend to enjoy the North Portland Sunday Parkways. These events are a blast! They’re held in different areas around the city, and a loop is created and closed to traffic for the day. Cyclists, walkers, runners, roller bladers, and I’m sure a whole lot of different options I haven’t thought of make their way around the loop. Visiting a lovely part of town, enjoying food, vendors, music and all different kinds of activities.

Relaxing

The relaxing part will probably happen with a good book. I have several interesting titles waiting for me, I’m looking forward to starting one! (I’ll let you know what I choose.)

Getting Things Done

And the big thing I’ve been wanting to get done, a good old-fashioned clothes purge and closet organization. I usually get stuck when I try to do this, and never clear out as much as I want to. I have some ideas about how to do it in a way that will work for me. They’re unconventional, and probably not super-efficient, but I think they’ll work for me.

My plan is to clear a space on one end of the hanging rod, that’ll be for keepers. Then, I’m going to do a quick scan and grab the first three most obvious keepers. Then choose at least three obvious things that I can let go of (for someone else to enjoy). I’m going to go at it this way, scanning and choosing the obvious things for 30 minutes and see where I’m at. I’ll let you know how it goes.

What about you?

How will you be unplugging, moving, relaxing and getting things done this weekend?
