Moving Change

 

At the very end of one of Alexandra Franzen‘s recent blog posts, The Most Annoying Question Ever, I was struck by the following scenario:

A mysterious benefactor drops off a check for $3,000 on your doorstep, with a hand-written note. It says:

“I’d like to spend the weekend with you. We can do anything you want — anywhere in the world. The only rule is that you have to help me solve a problem — any problem. And I want to leave in noticeably better condition than when I arrived.”

An image came immediately to mind.

Me, walking side-by-side with a client. I’m coaching her. And the change is so fluid.

There are lichens and leaves and rocks to marvel over. Distant horizons. Trees, paths, a creek.

The movement in nature creates so much ease.

This isn’t the first time I’ve pictured this…

I haven’t spent a lot of time contemplating this, but it just keeps coming up.

Sometimes the image is walking next to the river. Sometimes it’s in the woods, or in the gorge, next to a creek, to a waterfall. The background changes, but a few things stay the same. We’re walking, talking, laughing, thinking. And there’s something about the movement, being in nature, that makes the mind-bending techniques I use work even better, there’s so much ease.

I’m not sure what to do with this, yet, but clearly it’s not going away.
