How To Stop Blogging in 3 Easy Steps

Step 1. Experience a devastating event.
Step 2. Write about it and post it on your blog.
Step 3. Compare every possible thing you could write about to it, and let everything come up short.

So, I’m going to skip the words for awhile and just share some pictures from the last couple of months…

Shannon Wilkinson at the start of the 40th Annual Portland Marathon

It’s the start of my first marathon and the
40th Anniversary of the Portland Marathon.
(Can you spot me in the picture?)

Still smiling 26.2 miles later.

Shannon Wilkinson on the summit of South Sister

Climbing South Sister (elev. 10,358 ft.) with a
lenticular cloud made it particularly interesting.

Submerged forest in Clear Lake

Rowing around Clear Lake, we discovered an
underwater forest. It was created about 3000
years ago, when a volcanic eruption dammed the
McKenzie River and submerged the trees under
more than 100 feet of icy cold water, preserving them.

Shannon Wilkinson on the summit of Mt. St. Helens

Mt. St. Helens was my first summit, and remains
one of my favorites. (I’ve climbed it a half dozen times now.)

Okay, so I couldn’t skip the words completely. While the loss of my dad has changed things in ways I never imagined, life, as they say, goes on. This period of time, while difficult, has helped me pay attention to what I really care about, what really matters to me. It has been a deep and creative time. I’m working on some things I can’t wait to tell you about. More soon!
