Good | Bad | Rad #15 – Three Bs of Amazing

A look back at some of the best, hardest and most surprising parts of my week.

The Good

Brilliance Session with Maryann. No secret, I’m a big fan of Maryann’s work over at Kindergarten Mind. When she started offering these new one-on-one Brilliance Sessions, I jumped on board immediately. And am I ever glad I did. Before talking with her, I wasn’t even sure exactly what I wanted to focus on during our session, because I had so many things swirling around in my mind. I just started talking, she listened, and the focus happened.

I ended up focusing on a project that I’ve been alternately dabbling with and actively avoiding over the last year. At the end of our hour, I knew all the steps that needed to happen. And more importantly they felt really doable. The project that I thought would take hours and hours just to map out was outlined and I was able to easily start taking action on it.

Hot Chocolate. I was thinking about the hot chocolate at Petite Provence on Alberta for a week, and found an excuse to get back there for one. Not only did I get a phenomenally delicious hot chocolate, I got this gorgeous barista art. Almost too pretty to drink.

The Bad

Time Change. Each year I have mixed feelings about the fall back to Standard time. On the one hand, Oh Daylight Savings Time, I will miss you! It’s my signal of the end of summer and the end of any likelihood for warm autumn days. On the other hand, it’s the signal to hunker down and enjoy the things that winter brings, soup, friends, evenings in front of the fireplace. It has never really given me that jet lag feeling that so many people talk about, rather I’ve enjoyed the ease with which I can go to sleep earlier, rise earlier.

Until this year.

My sleep is messed up. Again. I have no idea what time it is during the day. Time seems to be passing in ways completely out of alignment with the clock.  I know this will pass with time. And I’m playing around with some things to bring back my happy sleeps and happy mornings.

The Rad

The Beach. The beach! Sometimes I wait far too long between visits to the beach. Some friends talked me into going last weekend and it was fantastic. It was typical Oregon Coast weather, misty and damp alternating with full out downpour. But, I still had a great run on the beach. Along with marathon movie watching, preparing and eating lots of delicious food, and just hanging out and laughing with friends. Plus a visitor in the backyard.

A wonderful way to unplug and relax.

And you?

  • So that’s where that gorgeous drink was from! And it was even hot chocolate! As soon as I can leave the house, I am going there for sure. Plus camera. Thank you!

Your beach weekend sounds absolutely perfect. It makes me so happy to picture you enjoying all of that.

    Hmmm.

Good: Friends! I feel very lucky. Also writing progress. I have had two experiences this week where I am not writing something but the thing is writing itself and I am just the pen.

Bad: Dogs who refuse to use my pillow stairs and leap off the bed when I am unprepared and land on the foot that is supposed to be healing and look hurt and mournful.

    Rad: Sunshine!
